EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT RED SOX HOCKEY CLUB - IN ENGLISH!
Looking for a fieldhockey club in Zürich? We warmly invite international players of all ages and abilities to join our various indoor and outdoor squads. Our current members include players from many countries, including Germany, Italy, Belgium, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Spain, and even a few from Switzerland ;)
Our club caters for all levels of hockey; whether you are already a passionate player or curious to try this exciting sport. Two mens teams and one ladies team compete in the main Swiss leagues, and a veterans squad as well as several junior squads compete in additional competitions. While our teams play in various leagues, we organise our trainings such that players from various teams also have the chance to practice together, and to get to know the whole of the club.

ALLES WAT JE MOET WETEN OVER DE RED SOX HOCKEY CLUB - IN HET NEDERLANDS!
Op zoek naar een hockeyclub in Zürich? We nodigen graag (Nederlandse) spelers van alle leeftijden en niveaus uit om zich bij de verschillende Red Sox hockeyteams aan te sluiten. Onze leden kommen vanuit alle hoeken van de wereld: Duitsland, Italië, België, het Verenigd Koninkrijk, Spanje, Zwiterland, en uiteraard Nederland! Of je nu bij Kampong, Tilburg, Den Bosch, Pinoké of Push hebt gespeeld, Red Sox heeft een plekje voor je.
Onze club richt zich op alle hockeyniveau's; of je nu een gepassioneerde speler bent, of alleen nieuwschierig om deze geweldige sport uit te proberen. We hebben een mannen- en een vrouwenteam die strijden voor het kampioenschap in de Zwitserse competitieklasses, en zowel een veteranen team als verschillende junioren teams die in verschillende andere competities meespelen.

Outdoor Hockey
Mostly to avoid the snow, we play our outdoor hockey seasons in two halves: from August to October, and then from April to June. Our home ground for outdoor hockey is at Sportplatz Buchlern, in the west of the city. It can be reached in 20-25 minutes from the main station, by taking the S-Bahn two stops to Bahnhof Altstetten, and then a 5 minute bus ride (to Rautistrasse or Schulhaus Buchlern bus stops).
Outdoor training is followed by drinks/snacks (preferably beers and toasties) together in the nearby cafe. Matches are always at weekends – usually on Sundays, and transport is organised for away games.
Indoor Hockey
Indoor hockey is played in Switzerland in the winter months (November to early February). Our home ground for indoor hockey is at Sportanlage Utogrund, fairly close to Albisriederplatz. It can be reached from the main station in around 15 minutes by train/bus (changing at Bahnhof Hardbrücke), or 25 minutes by direct tram (to Hubertus tram stop).
If you’ve never played hockey indoors before, we highly encourage you to try it. It is played with similar equipment, but on a smaller pitch, with 6 players a side and the ability to bounce off the walls! Most, but not all, of our outdoor players also play in the indoor teams.
